About Demelza
Demelza is a world-class coach who grew up skiing in the Australian Alps. After completing her Sports Science degree in 2000, she set off to “do a few winters” coaching skiing while traveling the world, but the snowsports industry immediately captured her heart.
Her career quickly flourished, and Demelza began trailblazing when she qualified as the only female member of the 2007-2011 Australian National Team. Following her passion for powder and big mountain skiing, she moved to Canada and became one of the first Australians—and is believed to be the first Australian woman—to gain employment as a heli-ski guide in Canada.
A freeskier at heart, Demelza continues to inspire skiers globally through her online work. Her athletic style—marked by a blend of power and grace—reflects her obsession with biomechanical efficiency and movement adaptability to terrain.
Now based permanently in British Columbia, Demelza works and plays in the mountains surrounding B.C.’s Powder Highway. She co-founded a technical freeskiing camps business operating in B.C. and Japan, with future camps planned for Europe and South America. She also coaches online for Big Picture Skiing and consults for pioneering tech companies like Carv, sharing her innovative coaching ideas and insight.
